II Corinthians 5:20 says, ‘Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ.’
An ambassador is someone who represents someone else.  An ambassador carries a message for the one he represents. He never delivers his own message, nor does he give his own opinion. Paul said, ‘now then we are ambassadors.’
To be a spokesperson for someone else you must have the heart and mindset of that person. Also, you must have the same agenda and purpose as that person. When Jesus was asked what was the greatest of all the commandments, He answered with the heart and agenda of the Father.  He said, ‘Hear oh Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.’
However, we quickly go to the last part of Mark 12:31, ‘...you shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ We seem to wrap up our whole agenda and purpose as an ambassador in loving others. But the point of Mark 12:30 is to love God above everything, with everything you have. If we can do that then the other comes easy. To love others is to be in love with God and His purpose for that person. If I can't love God with all that I am then I can’t deliver the message of God in love. To speak as God would have me speak, to forgive as God would have me forgive, to hope, pray, and live as God would have me live.  It’s to be and do what God would have me be and do. Paul said, ‘I die daily.’ To love others is to be in love with God above others. Paul said, as though God was pleading to us, ‘we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.’
To love others is not always pleasing them, but always pleasing God.
II Corinthians 5:12-21
