1 Thessalonians 4:18 says, ‘Therefore comfort one another with these words.’
I am just amazed at the shape our world is in, as you are, I am sure. With all the things that seemed to be so sacred when we were growing up, they are so highly under attack today. Family, honor, integrity, honesty, and just plain moral living have gone out the door.
As we see the time growing closer, it's even more important for those who belong to the Lord Jesus Christ to stay encouraged, and encourage others as much as we can. Yes, time is short, and, yes, these are uncertain times, but not for those who are living in the power of the few verses prior to 1 Thessalonians 4:18. This is one of the greatest promises for those who are called to live in the last days. Our encouragement is one day the Lord Jesus Christ, Himself, not an angel or anyone else, is going to step out on a cloud, with a shout, and the saved are going to be gone!
I have two things to say about that exciting moment: First, come quickly Lord Jesus! And second, you’re going to miss us when we're gone. Be encouraged that you do not labor in vain, for ours is an eternal labor with eternal rewards. The world might laugh, ridicule, persecute, or even kill now, but it's not going to dull my ears that I cannot hear that shout from my Lord and then I will be gone!
So, beloved, do those things that please the Lord. Do your work as a believer in Christ Jesus, because no matter what, He has the last shout, and we will be gone!
