Word of the Day

1 Peter 1:6 says, ‘In this you greatly rejoice.’
The life of a Christian will never be without conflict. If so, then something is wrong with your life. The moment you repented of your sins and asked Christ into your heart everything in this life became an enemy, a stumbling block, or a hindrance in the new life you accepted. You will spend the rest of your life making decisions. Before you were a Christian there were no kingdom-minded decisions to be made. We just did what we wanted to do, lived how we wanted to live, and did not care who liked it.
Now there is a greater purpose for life. It's the purpose of pleasing the Father.
1 Peter 1:3 says, ‘Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.’
When my earthy father was alive he did all he could to provide me the food I needed to grow, the clothes I needed to wear, and the home I needed to live in. But all that has long been gone, as are so many other things in life that have come and gone. So why would Peter write ‘in this you greatly rejoice?’ The answer is simple. The moment I accepted the Lord Jesus Christ into my heart, I had an abundant blessing! That blessing is the promise of my personal resurrection from the dead into eternal life in heaven. Now my life is contrary to the way had I lived, how I lived and why I lived it. My new life has a purpose! That purpose is to please the Father who has blessed me with the abundance of life. No matter the difficulty or trials, I now have a hope that will not disappoint me in the future. No matter what life might bring, my hope is secure in my faith in Christ Jesus. All things, even life itself, will come and go one day.
Trials and tribulations in this life you will inevitably face, but our hope is not here, nor can our hope be taken away by these things.
Yes, indeed, in this you greatly rejoice!
1 Peter 1:1-10
