Word of the Day

What is worship, and how should I worship?
This question has been debated and preached for many years. Some say just be still and wait, some like to run, and others say their works are worship.
In John chapter four, verse twenty-four, we read a story Jesus told about worship. He said, ‘God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.’ This story was about a woman who was at the well. She was standing still, then she ran, and then she worked by bringing others to the well to meet Jesus.
Worship is not about what you're doing, or how you're doing it, as many think. It's about the reason you're doing what you're doing. If you think you must run to worship, or be still, or even work, then you're probably not in true worship. It's not the form, but rather the subject of the form that is worship. Sometimes I feel like I want to cry or shout, or just run. Other times when I preach or listen to others testifying, I feel the power of worship just come over me. Worship is a Spirit just as my Father is a Spirit, and it must be done in the Spirit. God's understanding of worship is that all three should go together. Worship is when I am about my Father's business, no matter the form. Worship does not bring on the form, worship is the subject of the form. To worship my Father is not about what I might be doing at the moment, because in the next moment, the truth is, I will be doing something else. Time does not stand still for me to get in the Spirit to worship. Time is for those who are in the Spirit to worship no matter what they're doing.
Worship is being about the Father's business, no matter what the business might be at the moment. This is the true spirit of worship.
John 4:21-26
