Word for the Day

John 16:13 says, ‘However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth.’
The Holy Spirit's duty to the believer is not to pick you up and carry you, but to guide you. Every believer has the responsibility to seek after truth. We are not to be led astray by every wind of doctrine or the trickery of man, according to Ephesians 4:14. We are also not to become consumed by gossip, bitterness, backbiting, division, or evil speaking.
I often wonder why we have easily led astray. The answer is simple: When we follow after our old nature we will be led to believe in the things of our old nature. But, if we are led by the Spirit of truth we will seek the truth. We will find the best in others until it's proven differently. To seek truth is to walk like the blind walk, which is in total darkness. It is to see as God wants us to see. This is only revealed to us by the Spirit of truth.
One day I was in our fellowship hall. My hands were full and I could not turn on the lights. The outside door has a very small window in it. All I had to do was focus my eyes on that small light shining through the window of the door at the end of a very long hallway. I needed no other source of light, I needed no other outside influence or help. Everything I needed was shining through that little window. Truth is the same way. It may be far off and you will have to keep your eyes focused upon it, but it will deliver you from any darkness that you find yourself in.
Our duty is to seek what is true with the help of the Holy Spirit. Many times we are led by what we want the truth to be, instead of what the truth is. Only the Holy Spirit can know what is true.
Be led by the Spirit and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh, and the truth shall set you free.
John 16:5-16
