Good morning with a word for the day-
In our look at the book of Jonah we find a very amazing statement made in Jonah 4:1 that says, ‘But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he became angry.’ Jonah was not happy with what God had done, by having mercy on Ninevah.
In our look at the book of Jonah we find a very amazing statement made in Jonah 4:1 that says, ‘But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he became angry.’ Jonah was not happy with what God had done, by having mercy on Ninevah.
So many times in my Christian walk, I must admit, I was not happy with what God was doing.
Our perspective of what God is doing is always based on two things: First, hindsight. We make decisions from hindsight; looking back on the things we have seen or lived through. The second is from our present sight. In other words, where we are and what we're going through now. Both are contaminated by our own personal view. God never operates from the past or the present. God is always looking into the future. He is always seeing the things that matter to the Kingdom of God. We live and operate in a temporary world, with a temporary mindset. But God knows nothing but the future, and eternity. God accepts things as they are, but never settles for things the way they are. Jonah was angry because he could not see past what was. He saw nothing but sinners while God saw children that were not yet to be. God was giving opportunity to the generations to come, not just to those at hand. Nineveh was eventually destroyed, but what we don't know is how many will be in the kingdom of God forever because of what God did there. Many times we stop at what we see, instead of what could be. The end of the story with Jonah is simple, it's the last we hear of Jonah.
We must remember that it's possible to be in the grace of God, and to be outside of the goodness of God at the same time.
It's all how you view God.
Jonah 4:1-11
